‘The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of Macbeth’

By David McGillivary and Walter Zerlin Jr

‘Macbeth’ as you have never seen it before and certainly not as Shakespeare intended!

Mrs Reece, Chairwoman and self styled 'Leader' of The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society overcomes every obstacle to try and win a place in the national finals with her society's production of ‘Macbeth’.

When a member of cast gets on the wrong bus and fails to get to the hall on time she wastes no time in roping in Henry, the church hall caretaker, to fill the role of Lady Macbeth – the fact he is a man and has a beard is no problem – the show must go on!

Under the watchful eye of Mr George Peach the official adjudicator for the show anything and everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. From sets being put up the wrong way round to toilet paper blizzards, nothing is going to stop Mrs Reece from getting to those finals in Welwyn Garden City.

Cinderella

Cinderella is a classic ‘rags to riches’ fairy story. It tells the tale of young Cinderella; daughter of Baron Stoneybroke.

The Baron has fallen on hard times after his two step daughters have racked up massive shopping debts. At home, Cinderella is bullied by her two stepsisters but secretly adored by Buttons, the last servant in the house. Behind the scenes the evil Demon King, helped and hindered in equal measure by the idiotic Rant & Wreck, is trying to get his hands on a magic pendant belonging to the Baron’s family.

Whilst in the forest collecting firewood, Cinderella meets the handsome Prince Charming and they fall in love at first sight. With the assistance of her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella goes to the ball where, rushing away as the magic fails at midnight, she leaves behind a shoe.
